Welcome to the African Institute for Crime, Policy and Governance Research. The Institute aims to promote high quality research and teaching on crime, governance and policy issues in Africa. It provides training for professionals in the fields of criminal justice (police officers, prosecutors, judges, prison officers, probation officers, and private security providers) and advice on governance issues based on the best evidence available to inform sound policies. It also seeks to facilitate international collaboration between Africa and other areas of the world on specific themes of mutual interest. The Institute has on its Advisory Board an interdisciplinary body of scholars and policy makers in the fields of criminology, criminal justice, law, postcolonial studies, international relations, sociology, psychology and human rights.
